It’s been a while since I posted last (says every single blogger on the web) but I have been busy training and living the life. As a brief recap, two more training weeks went by and I have started to log more serious mileage. I have also ran the inaugural Berkeley Half Marathon on November 24th and added one more medals to my running collection (not to brag). Now my medal rack looks like this:
Let’s start with a race. I didn't set a new PR but I didn't run my slowest race either. Out of 7 half marathons that I have logged this year Berkeley Half was my 2nd fastest race up to date.
The race was very well organized, for it being held for first time event I think event organizers did an excellent job. The course itself could have used a little bit of an improvement – half of it went along the freeway with runners facing each other in both directions. Not my favorite given the car smog and people traffic. There was a giant hill right before the finish line at Golden Gate Fields; I tried to accelerate and break 1:50 but the road was too narrow to pass all the fellow runners, hence the slow finish.
I don’t think I will run it next year unless the course will go through the different route, running alongside the freeway traffic is just not my thing. I do have one more race coming up this year and one more in January, both are trail events – Brazen New Year Run and Pacifica Foothills. Both are training races to get me prepared for Napa in March.

Week 2: total of 23 miles logged (3x runs and 1x swim)
Week 3: total of 23 miles logged (3x runs + lots of Thanksgiving eating)
Some of the things planned for next year? I still have to sit down and write a yearly review with resolutions for 2014. It’s been a great year so far with many miles logged and many lessons learned. December already promises to be busy so more good things are coming soon.
